Traveling Fennells

Slacking on my blog again. I don't think I have ever had this much fun in one summer. I feel like the older I get the better life is.

July was go go go for us and only picked up more towards the end. We took an 8 day vaca with 4 of our close friends to Key West. What an experience!!!  We swam with wild dolphins, caught lobsters on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico, partied hard on Duval Street and toodled out on the ocean.

10 Tips when traveling to Key West:

1. Know a family member or friend down there. It is not the same experience without one. We were able to meet the locals and see Key West in a way most don't. We meet a wonderful Cajun couple that were born and raised in Key West. They taught us how to catch lobster, a few Cajun words and made an incredible meal for all of us.

2. Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! Between the sun, salt water and partying remember to drink lots of water. We went through a case a day.

3. SPF 50 will be your best friend. If you think you are tan and don't need it. You are WRONG! Don't worry you will still get a tan. Bring a good moisturizer. The salt water dries out your skin.

4. No high heels...it is pointless. Just flip flops, sun dresses, shorts and tanks. For guys, t-shirts and shorts.

5. You will only need a carry on when traveling there. Save yourself on the baggage fees.

6. Best restaurants and bars: Jack Flats, Margaritaville, Cowboy Bill's, Green Parrot Bar and Willie T's. There are a ton more places to go. I suggest doing the bar crawl. Start at one end and work your way down. Go to Hogsbreath and Sloppy Joe's just say you went.

7. Try something new!!

8. $5 stores are great for souvenirs

9. Southernmost Point is worth it for the pics.

10. Fly direct into Key West if possible. We did this and it was a great! Try to buy your flights in March. This is when you will get the best pricing.

Busy Busy Busy

I swear it has been non stop since spring! The problem with living in Ohio is everyone tries to cram all their fun in 4 months when the weather is some what predictable. I love the seasons so I embrace our wonderful wishy washy weather. Lately it has been hot!!! Thank goodness I have two pools in walking distance from my house. The month of July has already had it's excitement and we are only the second week in.

The day before the holiday we celebrated my dad's 61st birthday at my in-laws. I was very fortunate to marry into such a wonderful family. I am pretty sure he teared up. As big and bad as he thinks he is...underneath he is all mush. The 4th of July was very relaxing we laid pool side with a few close friends for 8 and half hours! Could not have spent the day any better.

We tried something new this past weekend thanks to Wheel Pros! We went to the drag car races at Norwalk, Ohio and holy hotness. We must have picked the hottest day of the year. I am not complaining because I will enjoy this weather while it lasts. We finished up the weekend celebrating our god daughter's 8th birthday! Those kids know how to party in style!!!

Summer Fun!!!

I have been seriously slacking this blog the last couple of months but only because I have not had a moment to myself. This summer has been amazing! So many friends from out of town have come to visit and great trips planned ahead. Let's pick up from where we left off-shall we :)

At the end of May the girls and I ran/walked the 5k for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Our team raised over $1,100. The Rack Pack had another successful year!

We started the summer off in Put in Bay, Ohio! My husband went on a helicopter ride and we toured the island. Doing as many different things as possible.

June was packed full of visitors, pool parties and boating!!

July has only began-first on the list was a day at the races in Norwalk, Ohio!

I can honestly say my husband and I are truly blessed with a fantastic family, amazing friends and life that is always full of excitement!

THE RACK PACK!!!!

Miss Mindy took 3rd place-if there were rankings lol

Off to Bar Louie to celebrate!

Yelp's Vivacious View from the Top @ Viaduct Lounge

I recently joined YELP! That's right I am a yelper now lol...cheesy I know! Any who....this site allows you to leave reviews of local restaurants, clothing stores, bars, really anything you can buy something at. It is nationwide so anyone can do it. The best part is if you get really involved you can become elite status! They have monthly events with other elite yelpers and you get to check out new places in Northeast Ohio...get this....for free!!!! I am in! Plus you get to network and bring a guest. Here are some pics from the Yelp event with a few co-workers!
